The best way to explore Lahemaa’s nature is to set aside enough time, pack comfortable hiking gear, and embark on discovering the local hiking and nature trails. Lahemaa’s trails vary in difficulty and character – from one-to-two-hour bog loops and the 45 km Oandu-Ikla hiking trail to a rocky kilometer leading to Purekkari Cape, the northernmost tip of mainland Estonia. The forests of Käsmu peninsula invite exploration both on foot and by bike. Lahemaa is also traversed by the E11 long-distance hiking trail, whose Baltic section is known as the Forest Hiking Trail, and which begins in the city of Scheveningen in the Netherlands and ends in Tallinn.
For Lahemaa’s hiking trails, we recommend bringing a guide, whom you can find here.
When venturing into nature, always ensure that your impact on the environment is limited to your presence. Sort any packaging and used napkins according to waste management rules. Keep the hiking trails in Lahemaa clean!

Put on a hat and come for an adventure in the forest – waiting for Christmas in the forest is much more exciting than in line at the shopping mall!
We will wander through the pine forests of Kaberneeme Peninsula and Lahemaa, look for a suitable Christmas tree (if desired, you can buy it with the RMK app), explore forest life, and read fresh animal tracks: fox, rabbit, and roe deer. Along the way, we’ll stop at “Badger Street,” listen to the guide’s stories, and learn simple nature wisdom: how to read tracks, what animals eat, and why the winter forest needs peace.
During the break, we’ll light a campfire and brew raspberry twig tea – and if the weather wants to put on a show, we’ll move the stories to a tipi. You’ll get ideas on how to make Christmas a bit greener (and a bit funnier): less plastic, more real experiences.
This is a great event for family, friends, and colleagues; a well-behaved dog can also join. Put on warm boots and bring gloves – we’ll take care of the rest.
Discover the mysterious Hara Island on a guided tour of Hara Harbor, where ancient nature and exciting history intertwine.
The journey begins with a ride in a fishing boat, taking you across Hara Bay amidst beautiful views. The island welcomes you with wild trails, a harbor quay, a lighthouse, and ruins of buildings from industrial times. Together with an experienced guide, you will learn how a small island of 10 hectares once housed a couple of hundred people and why it was here that the very famous Tallinn sprats were first packed into tin cans. On the walk, you will be introduced to the island’s rise and fall, the beautiful nature of Lahemaa, and the rich world of birds and insects.
The tour is suitable for the whole family – it’s worth bringing comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and, if necessary, eco-friendly insect repellent. The experience is made special by the view of the mainland from the sea, which is rarely experienced otherwise.
Modern adventure parks and games are nothing new. Life in the countryside, however, has been full of adventures from the beginning.
Come and participate in it at Mikumardi.
A day at Mikumardi rural adventure park includes educational and entertaining activities. We will talk about how and which games did children play in the old times and what jobs did the locals have to do.
You will be able to learn about the history of one of Estonia’s oldest farms, hand-milk a cow, ride a zipline into a haystack, practise balancing yourself on milk containers and a horse trolley, tend animals, and participate in seasonal farm work (hay mowing, sheep shearing, ploughing, harvesting, etc.).
Come to the forest with a nature guide and hunting expert and see how the forest really works – without the fatigue of lectures and without hearing “look, don’t touch.” Here you will learn whose tracks are on the trail, where animal homes are, what they eat, and why sometimes it is hunters who care for nature (yes, really!).
During the trip, we will engage in practical tasks: learn to identify animal tracks, discuss environmentally friendly activities, examine fur characteristics closely, and taste beneficial plants found in nature. Pleasantly educational, slightly humorous, and surprisingly full of “aha!” moments.
Suitable for families, groups of friends, work colleagues, and anyone who wants to understand the forest, not just pass through it.
If you want a trip where your phone languishes in your pocket and your eyes finally find real life, this is your hike.
Rummu Bog snowshoe hike for nature enthusiasts with a nature guide, some jokes, and many “aha!” moments.
During the hike, we will explore the stages of bog development, learn about bog ecosystems and species interactions, and discuss why the bog is our “silent superhero” — it retains water, maintains biodiversity, and keeps our minds clear. We will move on snowshoes in the bog for about 1.5 km, and the total length of the hike is 4-5 km – a perfect length for families, friends, and work colleagues (team spirit comes surprisingly easily in the bog!).
Wear layers and bring warm gloves and curiosity. Depending on the weather and season, the bog may offer expansive views, a carpet of moss, fresh tracks, or simply luxurious silence.
We follow the Good Practices of Snowshoe Tourism: snowshoe hikes in protected bogs are not permitted from April 23 to June 24. The hike takes place by reservation; the meeting place will be specified upon booking.
The hike is family-friendly and pet-friendly. Book a time, grab a friend, and come to the bog – you’ll leave with a good mood.
A guided bike tour takes you to a trail where pure groundwater is born – the same that is used daily as drinking water in Estonia. We ride through the Pandivere Uplands, characterized by expansive views, forests, and an abundance of springs. We stop along the way to enjoy the landscape and hear stories about how nature and water are interconnected here.
We visit the exceptionally clear Äntu lakes, whose colors and transparency amaze even first-time visitors. During the tour, we also stop for a picnic and enjoy lunch at the cozy Georgi Dining Room.
The approximately 40 km route is suitable for active riders with moderate training. If desired, we can enhance the route with detours to springs and lakes. We bring the bikes to the location ourselves and plan the start time according to your schedule.
Come and experience the landscape that provides Estonia with clean drinking water!

A glass kayak trip on Lake Porkuni takes you to a place where nature and history intertwine in a particularly enchanting way. The transparent kayak allows you to glide as if hovering above the water, while lakebed patterns, underwater vegetation, and moving schools of fish unfold right beneath your feet. Lake Porkuni is located in a picturesque primeval valley and is an ideal spot for those who wish to feel peace, notice the details of nature, and surround themselves with tranquility.
The lake’s depth reaches up to 2.8 meters and is unique due to natural processes; the water occasionally disappears almost completely. Such a spectacle makes Lake Porkuni one of the most unique lakes in Estonia. In the middle of the lake is Castle Island, where a fortress once stood.
If desired, you can also try exploring with a glass kayak at night – then the surroundings reflect on the lake surface and the underwater world transforms into something entirely new with the help of beams of light.
Rent a kayak from us to explore the unique beauty of Lake Porkuni!

Retk algab Hara sadamast, kust suundume koos kogenud retkejuhiga üle vee. Teekonnal saad nautida panoraami legendaarsele allveelaevade baasile ning rahulikku merd, kus aerutamine on jõukohane ka algajale. Altja nature and cultural trail is located in Lahemaa National Park and is 3 km long. It begins on the headland at Altja where you cross the suspension bridge. The trail passes through the fishing village and the surrounding environment, from its stony beaches to the flats of the Altja River.
Located in Oandu and part of the Lahemaa National Park, this 1 km long ‘beaver trail’ takes around half an hour to complete.
Passing through the Altja River valley, it provides hikers an opportunity to witness a diversity of plant and animal life, and to spy on the beaver activity of the valley too including the dams they build, the riverbank dens, and the trees whose trunks they gnaw through.
This trail is a great place to visit in Lahemaa National Park for those seeking a break from a long journey.
If you want to go on the hike on your own, you can ask for maps from Ohepalu. If you wish to prepare for your trip more thoroughly, you can decide on the route beforehand and even order signposts to be installed on the crossroads.
On the route, you can see faraway forgotten and abandoned villages, known and unknown manors, and the eskers and small lakes of Kõrvemaa, which are all inaccessible by car.
If you wish, our guide can come with you on the hike. After a day in the nature, we offer you a relaxing sauna.
Good to know: Linnumäe Nature Farm is a cotter’s hut located on the edge of the Ohepalu bog. Eight generations have lived there and there is still no electricity. The hut is the starting point of the hikes and a perfect location for a sauna.
Come and spend an active day exploring Lahemaa National Park!
Put your helmet on your head and humor in your pocket – here comes Lahemaa National Park! This 30 km bike tour with a nature guide is a delightful mix of movement, nature, and cultural heritage. We start at Lahemaa Heritage House, then pedal to Muuksi Hillfort, where we stop and descend by rope to explore the spring. Next, Tsitre Beach and Manor await – stories, legends, and the endless “oh, I didn’t know!” feeling. At the end, we also peek at the wild garlic growing area.

Walking with bogshoes creates an unearthly feeling – you are essentially walking on water.
Kõnnu Suursoo was formed as a result of the Ice Age. The landscape surrounding the bog is such that the area is also called the “Estonian Switzerland”. The observation tower offers stunning views of the bogs and their colorful landscape.
The hike includes a guide, snowshoes, leggings, snacks, and drinks. If you want to experience the beauty and charm of the bog away from the boardwalks and learn more about the bog, then come on a bogshoe hike with Wanderlust!
Discover the magical bogs of Estonia on a guided bogshoe hike – a unique adventure starting in Tallinn.
